It's never too early to become an Enthusiasm Team member for the Michigan HOBY Seminar!
Be sure to fill out the Alumni Membership Form, and begin thinking of what skills and strengths you would bring to the coming seminar:
• What volunteer projects have you been involved with?
• Who could you ask to write you a letter of recommendation?
If you have questions about what it means to be an ET, please contact James McLaughlan, our Director of ETs & Junior Staff. James will put you on the list for next year and will notify you when the Michigan HOBY ET application is available.
If you have been an ET and are going to be 21 years of age before next year's seminar, we ask that you serve as a Group Leader instead. Please contact Karissa Chabot for more information on becoming a GL.
These volunteers play a critical role in helping set the tone for an OUTSTANDING seminar. Along with assisting Ambassador registration and check-in, ETs help facilitate discussion in home groups as well as helping the senior seminar staff throughout the weekend.
As we pass the torch from one year's HOBY Ambassadors to the next, we take on the responsibilty of helping to make the Seminar itself happen. We all need to do our part to help raise the funds necessary to pay for all aspects of the Seminar. Start thinking about where you might be able to raise funds. Potential fundraising sources include local businesses, community-oriented organizations (Optimist, Kiwanis, and Lions Clubs, for example), family friends, and parents.
Think about what HOBY means to you and why you feel people should support HOBY. Do your homework - read up on the HOBY story to learn more about HOBY's history on a national level. Additional information and statistics are available on the national HOBY website: www.hoby.org.
Give the "Sponsor a Plate" form to people you think may be interested in sponsoring a meal for either an individual or the entire HOBY group. Consider giving the Program Book Advertising form to local businesses in your area to advertise their business to HOBY people across the state.
Don't forget to print your name on the back bottom corner of any of these sheets before giving them out in person so we can make sure you get the credit for any fundraising money you bring in.
