Once you've experienced HOBY, it's hard to imagine how you lived without it. The only bad part is saying good-bye, but it helps knowing that no matter how far apart you are, the distance could never separate the friendships you've made, and the memories will stay with you forever.

I just wanted to let you know what an awesome weekend I had at HOBY, I wish it would have been longer!
For three days I was a passenger riding high on the shoulders of a giant that is the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. The everlasting effect captured during that short, yet inspiring weekend will be one I will cherish for the rest of my life. I can't express my gratitude to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and founders that made this experience possible.
I loved HOBY so much! I can honestly say that it has changed my life, and in the best way possible. The fellowship I felt with everyone there was immense and the impact in had on me was even greater. The only downside to HOBY is that everyone cannot experience it. I think the world would be a much better place if they could. But, since it is not so, it is our job to spread everything we learned at HOBY throughout the world. And it is the best message to spread!
I recently attended the HOBY seminar at Alma college...HOBY truly changed my life..I hope that I can keep in touch with all my new friends!
I loved meeting 200 people who cared about leadership & being positive - just like me! I definitely plan on coming back next year!
What a weekend! I laughed and cried and had so much fun just being myself and being accepted for who I am! I had no idea what to expect, but this weekend surpassed anything I could have imagined!
I will remember so much from this weekend - the positive people and experiences will help me go forward to serve others!
Everyone was so amazing - the staff was great and Jim Tuman is someone I will never forget!
It was only 3 days, but by the second night, it was like I'd known all of those people forever. I felt like when I looked at someone, I was looking in a mirror at myself, and that was amazing because I'd never been accepted for who I was. When people got braver, they started to share their stories too, and they were just like me, scared and struggling to belong somewhere. I'm a different person now. I can look at myself in the mirror and know that I can't and don't have to change who I am anymore because who I am is who I am. I can never say that I don't have a friend in the world because after that one weekend, I have 250 new friends that I would trust with my life, and that's more than I can say for some of the people I've known all my life.
HOBY was an experience that I dearly treasure. I met kids just like me, from all over Michigan, who cared about their schools, their communities, and, above all, cared about other people. It was so refreshing. I came back home inspired. This program creates leaders, and it is a program anyone who becomes involved with supports fully. I cannot even imangine my future without HOBY in it.
My experience at HOBY was one that I cannot put into words, because there are simply no words that exist to describe it. When first meeting new people, it usually would take me a couple of days to warm up and really show my true colors. Knowing that my time at HOBY was short, I had to force myself to get personal, which in the end I was glad I did. By opening up, I met some amazing leaders from all across Michigan. I felt more at home than ever before.
