Important Information for Potential Enthusiasm Team Members

You want to be an ET?

OUTSTANDING!!!

To Be Enthusiastic You Must Act Enthusiastic!

We are NOW beginning our recruiting process for Enthusiasm Team members for the 2008 Michigan HOBY Seminar! If you have questions about what it means to be an E.T., please contact Steve Dittenber, our Alumni Advisor. Begin thinking of what skills and strengths you would bring to the coming seminar.  What volunteer projects have you been involved with? Who could you ask to write you a letter of recommendation? Print off and send in a copy of the ET application and (if you are over 18) a copy of the Volunteer Application and Background Check form, along with a copy of your driver's license.

If you have been an E.T. and are going to be 21 years of age by June 1, 2008, we ask that you serve as a Group Leader instead.  Please contact J.D. Hill for more information on becoming a GL. Thank you.

The need for E.T. members

"ENTHUSIASM TEAM" says it all.  These volunteers play a critical role in helping set the tone for an OUTSTANDING seminar. Along with assisting Ambassador registration and check-in, E.T.s help facilitate discussion in home groups as well as helping the senior seminar staff throughout the weekend.

Fundraising

As we pass the torch from one year's HOBY Ambassadors to the next, we take on the responsibilty of helping to make the seminar itself happen. This means we all need to do our part to help raise the funds necessary to pay for all aspects of the Seminar.  Start thinking about where you might be able to raise funds. Potential fundraising sources include parents, family friends and local businesses.

Think about what HOBY means to you and why you  feel people should support HOBY.  Do your homework - check out http://www.hoby.org to learn more about HOBY's history on a national level.

Some potential ways to fundraise:

Give the "Sponsor-a-Plate" and Program Booklet Advertising forms on the "Be a Sponsor" page to people you think may be interested in sponsoring a meal for either an individual or the entire HOBY group.  Consider giving the advertising form to local businesses in your area to advertise their business to HOBY people from around the state!  (Print your name on the back bottom corner of any of these sheets before giving them out in person so we can make sure you get the credit for any fundraising money you bring in.)
